Due to ill health The Sacred Woods have had to look at performing as a 2 piece in order to honour some existing commitments. We had our first performances this weekend and it all seemed to go very well. Changing the line up is not a simple case of just having 1 person not playing, we needed to rejig some of the arrangements and be quiteselective about the pieces chosen to ensure we could still produce a high quality performance.
We had a few rehearsals and felt well prepared for the events and I think they went down really well. I don’t see this becoming a regular occurrence though as we sound even better as a 3 piece but it is good to know that we can still perform if 1 player is going to be missing.
I have also made a commitment to a solo appearance in 2 weeks time. As I have written previously I was intending to try out a few open mics as a solo before doing any solo work but an offer presented itself that looked to good to miss. Alocal venue is putting on an evening celebrating the work of Leonard Cohen and they had asked for musicians who wanted to play a couple of tracks. Well, I do like his work but have never tried to perform any, so I had a bit of a bash and felt that I would be able to produce something half decent so I made contact with the organiser and I am down to play 2 pieces.
I now have 2 weeks to polish my performance and then give it my best shot. I will report back next month with how it all went. Perhaps this will be the spur I need to try out my solo work a little more.
Onwards
