Well I finished June having done quite a few open mics as a solo artist and have determined to keep going with it. This is a big step as I have often written about the challenges of doing many different things as a musician and the struggle to keep all the plates spinning. But, I feel that the benefits from building up my solo portfolio are worth the effort and any potential risk to my other artistic streams.
I have continued with the open mics through July albeit at a slightly lower pace. I have also secured the organising of an acoustic event in the garden of reflection at Astley Hall in Chorley and have decided that this will be my first foray into performing solo outside of the open mic circuit. My practice has continued with this new target to aim at and I feel that my guitar playing has improved and hopefully it will continue to do so. I am also continuing to focus my songwriting on solo material and have plenty of material for an album if that became a possibility,
Things continue a pace for The Sacred Woods. We have been busy doing pub gigs and charity festival slots. We have also performed live on radio and been interviewed which was fun. We are still getting some great feedback after every performance which is really pleasing and we seem to have settled into a really good, low stress, performing unit.
On the experimental music front I have finally started putting my Volca album series onto digital release channels. Capsules Vol.1 is now available on all digital channels and the other albums will follow during the summer. I also attended a very interesting event of yoga and gong bath with a very talented musician that I know playing live during the yoga session. This has sparked my interest in getting back into some of my experimental projects that have been on hold. As mentioned earlier though, I really don’t know how I will fit it all in.
The Astley Hall event is going to be the next big thing on the horizon as it will feature, Kittyhawk, me playing as a solo artist, and The Sacred Woods, plus 2 other acts, all being arranged by me so it will be a little stressful but I hope it will go very well.

Onwards and upwards.
