Where does the time go?

Things always seem to be getting in the way at the moment and preventing me from doing all the music things that have been building up. I have not had time to do any solo recording, the studio has been upside down due to work on the house which means the EP is no closer to getting finished. I have not done any solo performing at all and my practice seems to be getting less and less which will affect my likelihood of doing an open mic.

On the plus side The Sacred Woods has returned to The Jazz Emporium in St Annes and it was probably the best gig we have had. Loads of singing along and great feedback. We had introduced some new covers which went down really well and people who had seen us the last time we played there were very complimentary. We have been rebooked for February which will be great.

Kittyhawk has started a run of gigs leading up to Xmas. We played a lovely library in Ansdell this week. It was well attended with about 45 tickets sold. The library was a super space with plenty of room for us to set up in and we played a few tunes for the first time. Again, feedback was really great so that bodes well for the rest of the gigs.

While we were on holiday in Scotland I managed to get some great sounds recorded beside a river and I am hoping to use them in an experimental piece (once I find some free time). I have not written any new experimental material for a very long time so it will be really good to get back to it.

Things on the horizon: I am going to attend a busking conference in Manchester in a weeks time so that should be interesting. I am also going to release a single on Spotify of a track I performed using a shruti box last year. The open mic slot that I had booked at the beginning of December might be delayed as they are still building the venue! We have finished The Sacred Woods gigs for the year so unless we pick up something last minute we will just be learning some new covers to keep things fresh.

That is about it for this month. Seems like I haven’t done much and I know it is only going to get busier as we move towards Xmas.

Anyway, onwards and upwards.
