The last blog post of the year so I thought I would look back at what I have achieved in 2019.

Kittyhawk has had a quiet year this year. Not as many gigs as in previous years. I am not sure if it is a sign of the times, just a short term slump, or whether it will continue into 2020. We had a handful of ceilidhs and played some music gigs. We have expanded the set list quiet considerably which means we can offer a very wide range of material and match to a variety of requirements. It is always great fun playing a ceilidh and the ones that we did this year we all fantastic events so it would be good to get more in next year. We have a few things booked in to 2020 so we shall see how things go.

My experimental music under the name Jules Bryant released more original albums this year onto Spotify etc. I have not written any new material though this year so that needs to change in 2020. If I can find the time I do have a few projects waiting on the back burner so hope to have something out early in 2020.

The Sacred Woods have gone from strength to strength this year and we played a good number of gigs, adding a raft of new covers and original material in during the year. We played some wonderful locations too, Stanley Park in Blackpool and the Library Theatre in Darwen were probably highlights. A few dates are booked in for 2020 with hopefully many more to come as the year kicks off. We also need to get our EP released. It is tracked and we are just waiting to get the whole thing mixed and mastered.

I finally got around to doing some solo performances which I am really pleased about. It all followed on from the very nerve wracking  performance at the Leonard Cohen evening in St Annes. I am so glad I put myself forward for a slot and it was worth the effort. I played quite a few open mics in preparation and a few since in order to keep up the skills. I also did my first performance playing my own original material as a solo artist too which was another milestone, and this was at the wonderful location of Astley Hall in Chorley. It would be great to get back there next year, fingers crossed.

Well I think that covers everything. A lot of different stuff done this year, some things that I never expected at the start of the year, and some things that I wanted to do but didn’t manage to find the time.

All in all, a good year and I am looking forward to lots of variety and exciting things in 2020.

Happy Christmas and a very happy new year one and all.
