We find ourselves in a period of fear and uncertainty which is bringing out the very best and, unfortunately, the worst in humanity. All I am doing is trying to keep on doing what I am doing and make the most of opportunities as they present themselves. Unfortunately it looks like the majority of my live performances will be cancelled for the foreseeable future. This has not happened yet but it is surely only a matter of time.

It has already started with a number of fellow performers who play in care homes who have not surprisingly been the first to curb visitors to their establishment. I have suggested technology solutions that could be put in place to enable the performers to live stream into the care homes, far from ideal but it could offer an alternative.

That got me thinking to whether I should be considering some live stream options to be able to keep performing, it may not replace the gig income but it might stop me from getting too stale when the live performances dry up. I have used streaming tech for business and a couple of times for meetings etc at home but have not considered using it for my music thus far. I am aware of a number of musicians holding shows on Facebook live etc so it can work. I think this will need to be given some consideration.

In other news, I received a reply form the Arts Council informing me that my bid was unsuccessful. After reviewing their comments there were only minor changes requested so I set about updating the sections and then started a new bid. It was a shame the system would not allow me to amend the existing bid application, but unfortunately I had to input the whole thing again from scratch. Once again I wait with baited breath to see if I am successful this time round.

I have started reading a fascinating book titled ‘Healing Sounds’ by Jonathan Goldman. This was recommend by my good friend and musician Alex Macarte. I can’t wait to dive into the power of harmonics and see where it all leads me.

As usual I don’tknow where the month has gone and I have not created anything new since 1st Mar and the end of FAWM. I do have a number of ideas for some new material including some visual art that I would love to try and create. Perhaps if we get forced to stay at home I will be able to put some more time into it all?

Stay safe and onwards…IMG_4237-1
