I am slowly managing to increase my creative output although I still find the preoccupation with the current situation is hampering creativity.
In addition to the solo videos of me playing various instruments and singing my solo pieces we have started doing some videos as a band. Recording and videoing the separate parts and then joining them all together. It is a start but it still means that we have not had a proper practice together since the lockdown started. We tried Jamkazam but there were technical issues (at Tims end we think) and Tim has bought some new hardware which might improve the situation but we have not given that a try yet. Given the lifting slightly of the restrictions is would be possible to meet for a practice in a park and stay 2m apart so that may be an option. We will have another go at Jamkazam and see if we can get that working.
Nothing is happening on the Kittyhawk front although we have had enquiries about bookings for next year so all is not lost.
On a positive note I had a piece selected as a result of a call for works from MusInfo. My piece “Aural Refractions” which was written especially for the call was selected along with 11 other pieces to be diffused during an installation at the Art & Science Days in Saint -Etienne (France) 2020. Unfortunately due to the Covid 19 crisis this event has been cancelled but the pieces will be kept and rolled over to the 2021 event. Mine was the only piece to be selected from the UK so I was really pleased even though it is a delayed performance.
I continue to find it hard to practice and write with a house full but am catching little gaps where I can. Perhaps I need a project to focus on rather than doing little bits of everything and not making much progress. I feel the need for some ambient relaxation music so maybe that will be the next project.
Keep safe.
