Things are starting to open up again now, all shops this week and possibly pubs in a few weeks time. I am sure it will still be a very long time before we get to see bands playing in pubs but we have seen an increase in interest with a number of outside performance opportunities coming available. We are also going to do a video recording for Blackpool Music Festival which we are excited about. It is always a fantastic event and it would have been great to have performed live but the current situation means that a recording is the best way forward. Hopefully we will get that done on this week and then it will be played during the festival in July.
There have been a few calls for experimental pieces which I am looking at submitting work for. I am struggling a little with finding the space to be creative as there always seems to be a more important job that needs doing and I feel that I am not pulling my weight around the house if I sneak off for a few hours to record.
Kittyhawk remains on pause and that seems sensible at the moment as I don’t expect ceilidhs to start before next year. I think it will be the last thing to get going again (perhaps even 2021 is an ambitious target?).
I am still writing new songs occasionally but at the moment they will remain as solo work as we have not had a chance to get much practice together as a band. We did have our first rehearsal last week after the restrictions on meetings were lifted so that we could play in Tims garden. It was great to be back playing again and it all went really well. I managed to record the session and got a couple of videos from the footage. We were playing completely acoustically so the sound was not great on the recording so I will have to look at changing that in any future recordings.
I feel that things are slowly moving toward normality and that we may get back to some of the activities that have been on hold for such a long time. I think it is going to be a long slow process though and we will need to take it one step at a time.
Onwards…
