Even though we are now seeing a number of events with live music (outside performances) I am finding it hard to get motivated back into the swing of rehearsals. We have started having weekly practices for The Sacred Woods in our garage at home. It enables us to stay dry and maintain social distancing. We recorded the short set for The Blackpool Music Festival in the garage last month and it worked really well (other than being a little dark on the video) so we have continued that arrangement for our weekly practice.106536895_10222250434799805_8603184088886614288_o

I have not started regular singing so my voice has really taken a hit over lockdown and I am about 2 semi-tones short on range, I also find that my voice is really croaky after a practice so I am probably not warming up enough. Just goes to show how ‘fit’ my voice was before lockdown.

Other than the weekly rehearsals I am not really doing anything creative. The lockdown has been hard on my creative process which I was surprised about. I think this was because I was already in quite a creative groove and able to make time for some creative activities but the change in circumstances flipped this all on its head and I have not yet managed to reset everything. I think the uncertainty around when we might get performing again has put the brakes on things and perhaps if we had an outside performance in the diary it would spur us on to get going again.

I have kept an eye on calls for work but have not managed to produce anything yet, I think I should get another of my ‘Volca’ series albums done as they are usually quiet absorbing yet not too challenging (a job for this week me thinks!).

As last month, Kittyhawk has not yet started playing again and I don’t know when we will, the ability to hold a dance seems a very long way off.

Not a great month creatively but I hope that things will change soon. Here’s hoping!
