Well, we came out of lockdown only to be placed under similar restrictions for the remainder of the year. Things may even get worse as we move into the first part of 2021 so I don’t think we can expect any return of live gigs for quite some time.

As for all musicians, 2020 has been a wash out. We had kept up rehearsals across the summer for The Sacred Woods in the hope that some gigs would happen in the last quarter but that was not to be. We have learnt a whole raft of new covers and some new original material so it would be great to get the opportunity to perform them live at some point in the future.

As for Kittyhawk, we have not had a single rehearsal since the whole Covid thing kicked off. As we are from 3 different households it has been against all the rules to meet. We also don’t see anything changing with regards Kittyhawk gigs and a ceilidh is a long and distant memory. Quite when they will be permitted is anyones guess. We have spent years putting the band together and refining our set lists and it would be a real shame if we didn’t get to gig together again. Time will tell.

I have written a few more originals that could be solo or for The Sacred Woods. I have also written an album under the ‘Sonic Tranquility’ banner for music to accompany relaxation or yoga practice. This will be released on band camp in a few days and early 2021 onto all the usual digital channels.

I end the year with a feeling of having achieved little during 2020 from a creative perspective. I have had the creative stuffing knocked out of me a bit by the current situation but I am confident that better times are ahead. I look forward to being able to bring new art into the world in 2021 and beyond and hope that everyone stays safe and well.
