Well, there are signs in the UK that we may be returning to some normality in the next few months. We have roadmap for when venues will be opening and the opportunity for live music should line up with that, so we shall see.
FAWM was a great success again this year, 16 songs in total and quite a few that I would like to refine and use live, or record properly. I also started a 4 week improvising on the piano course over zoom. A video at the start of the week sets some activities to work on with a live zoom call on friday to discuss progress and chat with other participants. It has been a very well structured and enjoyable course. Improvisation is not something I have tried before but have always been curious about it. I learnt quite a few things and am able to play some interesting improvised pieces. Not sure what the next steps will be but it is an interesting development. Let’s face it, what I really need is yet another diversion in my creative locker to reduce even further the amount of time i have to spend on each activity!
Tracks are with Tim for adding his parts to ‘Stuck in the middle’ we shall have to wait and see if he is well enough to get much done, fingers crossed.
I have been working on a suitable set-up so that I can play guitar and sing live on zoom or any other platforms, this was to support a FAWM weekly ‘show and tell type event. In the end it did not come off as I had a clash but it means I do now have the tech sorted for doing such events so I may look to getting something done before the lockdown ends just to get some practice in.
The Sacred Woods have not had a practice since Oct/Nov time last year so I am getting very rusty. My vocal range has definitely lost a few semitones so I need to get that back up or I am going to struggle with some of our tunes.
Hopefully things are going to look much brighter this time next months…watch this space.
